Years of exceptional
crafts(wo)manship

Hi! I’m Marieka.

Ever since I designed my first outfit for my doll at three years old, I've been hooked on design and problem solving using fabrics and fashion. I am an avid sewer and specialise in alterations and tricky repairs including darning, patching, and mending knitwear.

In my early days I worked in a large clothing factory where I learned about pattern making and tailoring. I have a history of designing and make customised clothing.

I’m humbled to have served many wonderful customers in my home town of Johnsonville, Wellington for well over a decade, operating from my home studio since 2020.

Clothing that fits well

Sewing has been a life-long passion of mine. Being quite tall, I found it hard to find clothing that fit just right. Sewing meant I could make myself pants that were actually long enough for my 'lanky legs', and designing patterns and outfits meant I could match dresses to shoes and handbags. Once, I even designed a dress to match a lampshade that I'd made! Inspiration is all around us, and I love the creativity that goes hand-in-hand with fashion design.

Quality sewing techniques

Many customers visit me regularly to hem their new but too-long jeans, and customers of all shapes find that the alterations I can make to their clothing can help to make their garments fit them beautifully. I believe in proper sewing techniques, a high-quality finish and most importantly, happy customers.

Breathing new life into ageing items

So many items come to me on their last legs, and so many customers simply can't believe what I can do to transform them into something special. Great jacket with torn lining? Let's re-line it with something fresh. Holes in your favourite top? Let's look at how we can mend that - or perhaps put in some lace or other material. I even repair children’s soft toys. The possibilities are endless.
